...A tiny little corner of the Zaibach Empire run by CerenaX. If you haven't seen the 26 episode animé TV series Escaflowne (© Sunrise/Bandai) or if you've only seen the butchered Fox Dub version (ergo: you HAVEN'T seen Escaflowne), then what the *bleep* are you doing here? - Go rent the videos, buy the DVD's, watch at least some of it - preferably with subtitles if you don't speak Japanese - er, Gaean - and come back. You'll be warned when the major spoilers crop up...

The series is rated PG-13, this site (with the exception of the Adult Annex) is also rated PG-13. I reserve the right to post links to sites of higher ratings, however. (Those come with warnings, too.)

The DESTRUCTION ZONE is, funny enough, under construction. Please bear with us...

What's with Dilandau? Nope, he's not my koibito (sweetie), fangirls (or fanboys ;) ), just my alter ego. <grin>

WHAT IS "ESCAFLOWNE"?

     Short Answer:
Escaflowne ("Es-ka-flow-nay" / "E-su-ka-fu-ro-o-ne") is an ancient Ispano-made "Guymelef" (suit of battle-armor). It is the hereditary property of the kings of the small city-state of Fanelia on the world known as Gaea.

     Long Answer:
"Escaflowne" is a serious drama / action / relationships / philosophical concepts / science fantasy animé (Japanese animation) TV show which was intended as a "crossover" story spanning both the shounen and shoujo genres. At first glance, it looks like stereotypical anime - it has the clichéd 15-year-old protagonists, mecha suits, bishounen (pretty-boys), cat-girls, people with wings, a troubled long-lost older brother, yet another sort of "magical girl" (Hitomi is something of a psychic)... however "Escaflowne" is FAR from typical in the story it creates with these elements.

It's also a story chock full of plot twists and turns. There is always something new in each story-packed episode; it never bogs down and gets boring. It's not a show for the casual viewer; a LOT happens, and you have to really engage your brain to get it all.

Main characters are actually introduced throughout the show, not all at the beginning. The creators also like to mess with the viewer's heads vis-a-vis one's perception of the characters - just when you think you know all there is to know about them... don't count on it. There's a lot of depth here, and a whole interesting world that could be far more elaborated on... (sequel, maybe?)

The soundtrack music is also pretty amazing (even if it IS often derivative of well-known Classical works. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!).

     Initial Premise :
Hitomi is a (yet another, I know) 15-year-old Japanese schoolgirl who plays at fortune-telling for her friends - but with pretty accurate results. She starts having visions, which are related to events on the low-tech (mostly) world of Gaea, to which she gets transported when the prospective young king of Fanelia, a Gaean city-state, makes a brief appearance on Earth. Did her visions merely predict this? ...Or... did they summon him?)

Gaea is at war... and Hitomi's paranormal abilities could have repercussions on this world...

     The "Destruction Zone"?:
So much for Hitomi. This site is mainly devoted to those "destructive" elements of the Zaibach Empire whom Hitomi and her new Gaean acquaintances would call "The Bad Guys". There are two sides to every story...

Macintosh: IE 5.1& Opera 5.0 - Site looks / works fine.   Netscape 4.7 - Frames cut short but site still works, except the background still scrolls.
Windows: IE 5.50 & Opera 6.0 - Site looks / works fine.   Netscape 4.73 - Problems interpreting Javascript frame reloads.
Netscape 4.76 - Frames cut short, background scrolls, but site still worked - at least until my Navigator crashed and burned on me.
